My musical expedition started in my early teens when I discovered my brother's old Yamaha classical guitar discarded in the attic of our house. As I progressed my father started taking me to jam at The Weathervane in Readfield, Maine. At 15 years old I was playing with seasoned professionals every week. I soon realized guitar players are quite plentiful, where as bassists are rare. I made the switch to bass very naturally, amazing my peers and most importantly my father. I was proficient at filling in the bottom end and creating a solid foundation for songs I hadn't even heard before. It wasn't long before everyone realized that I had a natural talent for the bass. I was encouraged by everyone, and found that I could shine and bring a unique sound to even the blandest of rhythm sections.
I spent most of my time in high school playing bass and guitar in the local bands and writing music. After high school I pursued my musical career further by signing up for the National Guitar Workshop for Funk bass which entailed slap and tap technique. The course was taught by Dave Overthrow.
Upon returning from the National Guitar Workshop I enrolled in The Jazz program at the University of Maine, Augusta campus (UMA). At UMA I had private lessons with Greg Loughman and was taught music theory by Chuck Winfield. Lately I've been filling in with local classic rock and blues bands on an as needed basis, along with pursuing my own independent projects.
